Collections and claims answer different questions
Monthly collections describe the money received. Claim volume describes the number of claims handled. A collections-based fee uses the former; a per-claim fee uses the latter. Do not treat the two formulas as interchangeable.
Compare a like-for-like scope
Check whether posting, follow-up, credentialing, administrative tasks or historical backlogs are included. A lower calculated fee is not evidence of a lower total cost when the work differs.
Keep the assumptions visible
Use the same monthly period and currency when comparing costs. Estimates should identify the rate source, any minimum fee and the tasks excluded. Without an approved rate, request a custom quotation rather than assume a percentage.
